Xiao Mei went in little pub where they apparently served some Quebec specialities. Immediately a waitress with a nice smile came to show her to her table.  Xiao Mei opened the menu that was already on the table. She didn’t know most of the dishes that were listed in it: “galvaude, guedille, hot chicken, poutine!” All those weird names didn’t mean much to her. She finally chose the galvaude which turned out to be a plate of crunchy French fries covered with cheese curd, chopped chicken, some green peas and a good amount of brown sauce. Xiao Mei felt full just by looking at it. “How could anybody eat all that?” she thought.

Xiao Mei entra dans un petit pub où on servait apparemment certaines spécialités du Québec. Tout de suite une serveuse avec un beau sourire vint lui assigner une table. Xiao Mei ouvrit le menu qui avait déjà été placé sur sa table… « Galvaude, guedille, hot chicken, poutine! » Tous ces noms bizarres ne lui disaient pas grand-chose. Elle choisit finalement la galvaude qui se révéla être une assiette de pommes de terre frites croquantes couvertes de fromage en grains, de poulet haché, de petits poids et d’une bonne quantité de sauce brune. Xiao Mei avait l’impression d’être repue simplement en la regardant. « Comment quelqu’un peut-il avaler tout ça? », pensa-t-elle.
